One of my recent attempts to generate interest in my work had me displaying the stanzas of one of my poems in motivational-style placards. People seem to engage with text more readily if it’s delivered via frilly font atop generically emotive imagery. So I downloaded a bunch of free stock photos and started compositing. The results didn’t get much play on social media at the time, and I suppose I should’ve tempered my expectations from the outset. I mean … poetry? Really? Who reads that?
And if a picture’s worth a thousand words, perhaps my placards were just too verbose.
